PATIENT GUIDANCE
Do Dental Implants Hurt? What to Expect
Modern anaesthesia and careful planning make implant treatment manageable for most suitable patients.
During the procedure.
Local anaesthesia is used so the treatment area is numb. You may notice pressure or vibration, but sharp pain should not be expected. Tell your dentist immediately if you feel discomfort.
The first few days
Temporary soreness, mild swelling or bruising can occur. Follow the medication, cleaning, food and activity instructions given specifically for your procedure.
When discomfort needs attention
Contact the clinic if pain is severe, increases after initially improving, or is accompanied by persistent bleeding, fever, unusual swelling or another concern.
Planning improves comfort
Accurate imaging, gentle surgical technique, realistic expectations and clear aftercare all contribute to a calmer experience.
